Three hundred numbered tiles are one road, not three hundred roads

Most of this page is 3D Road Tiles: pieces named by number, a modular asphalt kit, and the pack shipped without preview stills, so the model pages cannot show you the tile. You learn tile 12 by placing it next to tile 13. City Kit Roads is a different language, with bends, sidewalks, crossings, a bridge, a driveway and a round end. Racing Kit adds dozens more roads in a racing dialect. Fantasy Town, Retro Urban and one graveyard piece contribute streets that belong to their own towns. Put a fantasy-town lane into the numbered grid and the kerb will not meet.

A city builder wants the city-kit streets in front of one block of buildings. An arcade racer wants the racing-kit roads, or the numbered tiles if you are building a track from parts. The city-building page and the racing page are those two landings. The genre guide lists both. Numbered tiles also dominate the modular tile collection. The city-kit streets live with the buildings in the city collection.

The first change is to stop treating the numbers as a menu. Lay a run of ten numbered tiles in a straight line, or one city crossing with two sidewalks, and drive something along it. The something is a car from the vehicle collection, not another road. Sidewalks and barriers are how a street becomes a place rather than a ribbon. A bridge is a later sentence. Two road languages in one junction is the bug you will spend the afternoon on, and it is avoidable by choosing.

From the city-builder template, tell Flockbay to build one city-kit crossing with sidewalks on both sides and a straight road leaving it, and to leave the numbered tiles and the racing roads out. Press Play and drive, or walk, across the crossing. If the sidewalk floats beside the asphalt, the pieces are from two packs and you have the answer. Kenney released all of it as CC0. The numbered kit is how you build a long track once you know you want a track.
