Opening your project in Godot

Every project already opens in Godot: the app’s own screen is the Godot editor that ships with it. It is a real Godot project, so nothing about it is locked to this app.

For the game itself, see the what of Flockbay is open source and the AI game maker.

The app is built on the Godot editor

When you open a project, the app opens it in the copy of Godot that ships with Flockbay, and it is the whole editor: the main menu, the Scene dock, the Inspector, FileSystem, the Script editor, the Asset Store, and Output and the Debugger at the bottom. Flockbay adds the chat as a dock on the left, the builder’s tools around the 3D and 2D views, and the Game screen, where your game plays. Godot’s own run bar is not there, because Play is Flockbay’s: F5 plays and F8 stops. For less on screen, pick Simple editor at the right end of the title bar.

That copy is pinned to one version. Opening a project never migrates it, converts it or changes it — it just opens it.

Opening it in a window of its own

When you want Godot without Flockbay around it, use "Open in Godot editor", on the project’s own menu and in the chat. It opens the exact folder your project lives in, in the same bundled Godot, as a window of its own.

The one rule

The first time you use it, Flockbay asks you to confirm, and the confirmation is the important part: save and close that window before you come back.

That window and the chat are both writing to the same files. If you leave it open and a turn makes a change, a later save from that window overwrites that change. Closing it before you go back to the chat avoids the whole problem.

Using your own Godot

Flockbay does not launch a Godot you installed yourself — the action always opens the bundled one, so that the version is known.

Nothing stops you opening the folder in your own Godot by hand. It is an ordinary Godot project on your disk. Just be aware you are then responsible for the version you open it with, and the same save rule applies.

Flockbay has no "reveal in Finder" or "show in Explorer" action. You chose the folder when you made the project, and it is where you put it.
