An AI game maker like Roblox, without the platform
By Eduardo Orellana · Updated
Flockbay is free on your own Claude or ChatGPT plan. Claude Pro or Max, or ChatGPT Plus or higher, builds a real Godot project in the Godot editor. Claude Free and ChatGPT Free do not run here. More models are optional, a credit reload at API prices. Windows today. The engine is the official Godot release. Roblox Studio is free, powerful, and attached to a platform: your game runs in the Roblox client, in front of Roblox players, under Roblox rules. Flockbay builds standalone games on Godot that run on their own. The difference is the platform, and it decides almost everything else.
What Roblox is genuinely better at
The audience. This is the real product and nothing else on this page competes with it. A game published on Roblox is in front of an enormous existing player base with no marketing, no store page and no launch. For most independent games, distribution is the hardest unsolved problem, and Roblox has solved it for you.
Multiplayer. Networking is built in and it is the default assumption rather than a feature you bolt on. Building a multiplayer game elsewhere is a substantially harder project and anyone telling you otherwise has not done it.
Monetisation and the ecosystem. There is a working payment path, a large asset library, a huge amount of learning material, and a community of people the same age as most people starting out. It is also free to use, and Studio runs on modest machines.

What the platform costs
Your game only exists inside Roblox. It cannot be sold on Steam, cannot be played without the Roblox client, and cannot be moved. That is the trade in exchange for the audience, and it is a fair one as long as you know you are making it.
It also means playing by the platform's rules on content, on moderation and on economics, and those are set by someone else and can change. And the visual style is largely the platform's, which is fine if that is what you wanted and a hard constraint if it is not.
The last one is scripting. Roblox is a code platform — Luau is how you make anything non-trivial happen, and the AI assistance available inside Studio is help with writing that code rather than a way around it.

What Flockbay is for instead
Standalone games. Godot underneath, bundled inside a desktop app for Windows, and the result is a normal Godot project that runs on its own and can be distributed like any other native game.
A different visual ceiling. Terrain, water, weather and populated 3D worlds running locally at your machine's framerate, with no platform art style implied.
And genuinely no coding. Flockbay writes the GDScript into your project when you describe behaviour. You build the world by hand in a builder. That is a different proposition from an assistant helping you write Luau faster.
What Flockbay does not have
An audience. There is no built-in player base and no discovery. If you finish a game here, finding players for it is entirely your problem, and it is a large one.
Built-in multiplayer as a default. Networking is not the assumption the product is designed around.
And no browser, phone or Chromebook version. It is a Windows download, building needs an internet connection, and it takes an evening to reach something playable rather than minutes.
Which one to pick
Roblox if you want people to play it, if it is multiplayer, or if the platform audience is the reason the game makes sense. Those are strong reasons and they are not close calls.
Flockbay if you want a standalone single-player game, a look that is yours, a project you can hand to anyone, and a path that does not require learning to script. Flockbay is free on your own AI: your Claude or ChatGPT plan, your own agent, or an API key.

Questions
- Can Flockbay publish to Roblox?
- No. It builds standalone Godot games. They are different engines and different platforms.
- Is Flockbay free like Roblox Studio?
- The download is free and the whole world builder is free. Flockbay is free on your own AI: your Claude or ChatGPT plan, your own agent, or an API key.
- Does Flockbay do multiplayer?
- It is not what the product is designed around. If multiplayer is the point of your game, Roblox has it built in and that is a real advantage.
- Do I need to learn a scripting language?
- Not here. Flockbay writes the GDScript. On Roblox, anything non-trivial means Luau.
- Where do my players come from?
- That is the honest gap. Roblox brings an audience; a standalone game does not, and distribution is your job.
