Free space and sci-fi 3D models

Outside the hull or inside the corridor, not both on day one

Space Kit, Space Station Kit and Modular Space Kit are the packs tagged space, sci-fi, planet or station. Space Kit is the outside: rockets, a craft, planet terrain, generators, rocks. Space Station Kit is the inside: corridors, walls, stairs, pipes, beds, chairs, a monorail. Modular Space Kit is rooms you assemble, tagged so the whole kit arrives. A rocket on a ramp and a bunk in a corridor are both “space”, and a player can tell you immediately which one they are standing in. The collection will not choose for you.

Space survival can be either, and it should be one of them first. An FPS wants the station corridors, because a gun needs a corner. The survival landing page and the FPS page are those briefs. The genre guide files them under different genres, which is the hint. The planet surface has its own page, terrain. The generators are on the machine page. The station seats are on the chair page, inside a collection that also swallowed the station because of an interior tag.

Decide outside or inside before you place a second kit. A habitat on the ramp, with the corridor saved for when you go in, is a base. A corridor floating on the planet with no exterior is a set. The monorail inside the station is not the coaster from the other collection, and it should not be asked to behave like one. Pipes and stairs are how a corridor becomes a ship rather than a hallway texture. One junction, then a room, then a door that leads outside.

From the space-survival template, ask Flockbay to set the plain space-kit terrain and one large ramp, with a generator at the top, and to keep the station corridors out of the exterior shot. Walk up the ramp in Play. If you wanted to be indoors, say so and ask for one station corridor instead, not both. Kenney’s kits are CC0. The airlock between them is the second scene, after one of the two places is real.
