One belt, then the room around it

Factory Kit and City Kit Industrial are the packs tagged factory, warehouse, industrial, conveyor or belt. Factory Kit is the machine: conveyors in a dozen grammars, pipes, catwalks, cogs, screens, chimneys, the housings named structure and machine. Industrial is the shed those machines sit inside, twenty-five buildings and roofs that read as a district from the outside. A belt without a shed is a diagram. A shed without a belt is a city block that happens to be ugly. The diagram is the game. The shed is the establishing shot.

The template is the factory sim. There is no factory landing page. The tycoon page is the nearest, and a tycoon is the money around a factory more than the belt itself. The genre guide files factory sim under simulation. The pieces with their own pages are conveyors, machines and the frames on the structure page. The industrial sheds also appear in the city collection and the building page, where they are a district rather than a machine.

Lay one belt before you build the plant. A straight, a corner and a machine at the end, with a crate, is a sentence you can watch. Catwalks, chimneys and a second shed are the second paragraph. Pipes are how two machines share a wall, and they are clutter until two machines exist. The yellow structure frames and the plain ones are two colourways. Pick one or the factory looks like it was bought from two suppliers, which it was, and the player can tell.

From the factory-sim template, ask Flockbay to run a straight conveyor into a corner and end it at the factory machine bed, with one crate on the belt and the industrial skyline left outside the room. Follow the crate in Play. If it stops at the corner, the join is the wrong piece and you name the junction you wanted. Kenney’s kits are CC0.
