Godot plugin in Flockbay
Terrain3D
Terrain3D is the terrain system under every 3D world in Flockbay.
What it is
Terrain3D is a terrain system for Godot 4, written in C++ as a GDExtension. Its repository describes terrains from 64 by 64 metres up to 65.5 by 65.5 kilometres.
It supports sculpting, holes, texture painting with up to 32 textures, painted colour and wetness, ten levels of detail for the terrain mesh, and instanced foliage with shadow impostors. It can be used from GDScript, C# and other languages Godot supports.
Who makes it
Cory Petkovsek (Tokisan Games) and Roope Palmroos (Outobugi Games), with other contributors. Licence: MIT. Source: github.com/TokisanGames/Terrain3D.
What Flockbay does with it
When a 3D world gets ground, whether the AI lays it or you shape it by hand, the result is a Terrain3D terrain in your project. The hills you raise and the ground you paint are Terrain3D data.
Because it is an ordinary Godot addon inside an ordinary Godot project, the terrain opens in the Godot editor too, with Terrain3D's own tools.
Facts about Terrain3D were read from its repository on 26 September 2026.
