Hero shooter template
Two heroes, one ability each, and an objective that is not "kill more." Team Fortress 2 (Valve, 2007) is the classes. Overwatch 2 (Blizzard Entertainment, 2022) is the point you stand on. Valorant (Riot Games, 2020) is the same shape with a harder gun. If the abilities do not change who should enter the door, they are fireworks. The AI shooter game maker and the AI shooter maker are the shots. The abilities are the template.

What the template starts with
The hero shooter template starts with two heroes with one ability each and one objective. That is the smallest version of the loop that defines the genre: pick a hero, use abilities, fight for an objective.
What to change first
Play the objective with the abilities swapped off. If your tactics do not change when they come back on, the heroes are skins.
