One zone, one quest, one character who gets better, and other people who could have been in the zone even if your first build fakes them. World of Warcraft (Blizzard Entertainment, 2004) is a quest log as a crowd. Final Fantasy XIV (Square Enix, 2013) is the same log with a stronger main story. Old School RuneScape (Jagex, 2013) makes the skill a place you stand. A raid is not the first version. The AI MMORPG maker is the crowd. The AI RPG maker is the quest if you are alone on purpose.

What the template starts with
The MMORPG template starts with one zone, one quest and one character to level. That is the smallest version of the loop that defines the genre: quest, level, group up, raid.
What to change first
Complete the quest once. The reward should change what you can fight in the same zone. A cutscene reward with no new verb means you built a single-player chapter.
