Interactive fiction template
Three passages and one choice between them. 80 Days (inkle, 2014) is a journey made of those passages. Reigns (Nerial, 2016) is the same idea as a swipe. Zork (Infocom, 1980) is the ancestor, with a parser the next template keeps. If the second passage could have been a paragraph in the first, you do not have a choice. Story to game is the passage. The AI visual novel maker adds the face you may not want yet.

What makes an interactive fiction
Interactive fiction: text is the whole game, with choices or typed commands.
The games that set the standard are Zork (Infocom, 1980), 80 Days (inkle, 2014) and Reigns (Nerial, 2016).
What the template starts with
The interactive fiction template starts with three passages and one choice between them. That is the smallest version of the loop that defines the genre: read, decide, read what follows.
What to change first
Read all three passages aloud. Each must contain a fact the others do not. A choice that only changes the adverb is a pause button.
2D or 3D
The interactive fiction template starts in 2D.
