What the template starts with
The Silent Hill style template starts with a foggy street, a radio that crackles when something is near, and one creature.
Fog so you cannot see the street you are on, and a radio that misbehaves before you see why. Silent Hill 2 (Konami, 2001; remade by Bloober Team in 2024) uses both as guilt, not as a minimap. 3D, a small town block, not a dungeon key hunt. If the radio is only a jump-scare trigger, you missed the static that builds.
What to change first
Walk a street in fog until the player gets lost without a monster. Then add the radio. The horror game maker is the fear. The getting lost is the style.
